It is actually a letter of intent signed by the also Minister of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and the executive president of CAF (Development Bank of Latin America) to support Spain and those countries to implement national strategies related to financial education. .

Based on the fact that the Ministry chaired by Calviño forms part of the team of promoters of the Spanish Financial Education Plan, together with the Bank of Spain and the National Securities Market Commission, in the signed text both institutions show their interest in working jointly to address the problem of financial and digital literacy.

The focus is on the elderly, women and the rural population, to prevent them from being excluded from the financial system due to their low digital capacities. To do this, they will develop a pilot program in which this problem is identified and solutions are sought.

Calviño reaffirmed Spain’s commitment and link with CAF and Latin America to “promote a more sustainable recovery and economic growth from a financial, environmental and social point of view.”

For his part, Díaz-Granados commented that strengthening financial inclusion in the region “is a fundamental aspect to promote economic development and the well-being of the population.”

On the occasion of Spain’s 20th anniversary as a CAF shareholder, the focus on Latin America today points to the energy transition, sustainability, digitization and the fight against climate change, issues addressed in a photo held at the Casa de América in Madrid .
