Bruselas-consecuencias-teletrabajo
Brussels, Jun 20 (Prensa Latina) The European Agency for Safety and Health at Work warned today about the harmful consequences of teleworking for the musculouskeletal system, and urged to take measures to minimize its effects.

Despite the benefits of working from home, such as saving time and energy in traveling to the offices, and even greater productivity and better concentration, the source warned that after the increase in this trend, an increase in sedentary lifestyle, longer working hours and social isolation.

Telecommuting, he pointed out, skyrocketed in 2020 when a significant part of employers adopted this trend full time at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Because of this, he added, it is crucial to identify the risks that cause musculouskeletal disorders in the home, whose triggers have origins related to ergonomics, work organization and other environmental and psychosocial factors.

In order to mitigate the adverse effects of this phenomenon, the agency recommended that employers offer education and training so that hired personnel learn to make optimal use of the dynamics of work stations and to stay active during the workday.

He also urged the establishment of a clear teleworking policy with essential provisions for the well-being of the workforce, while advising higher levels of physical activity and exercise outside office hours.
