In its monthly bulletin about the issue, the agency stated that exports in that month totaled 4.94 billion dollars, an increase of 54.2 percent compared to the same period in 2021.
It highlighted that the increase was due to the rise in the exports of several commodities such as petroleum products by 204.3 percent, crude oil by 14.8 percent, ready-made clothes by 34.7 percent and fertilizers by 10.3 percent.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that imports showed a decrease of 2.7 percent to hit 6.64 billion dollars, despite the increase in the prices of several raw materials and products purchased abroad, such as wheat and medicines.
With a population of 103 million inhabitants, Egypt is the world’s largest importer of wheat.
