Líbano, Israel, disputa, marítima
Beirut, Jul 7 (Prensa Latina) Lebanon's President Michel Aoun showed his optimism on Thursday in the progress of the negotiations on the southern maritime border between his country and Israel.

In an interview with OTV channel, the head of State assured that the talks will soon be concluded and their results will satisfy everyone.

He saw that the dispute will end in a short period by considering an understanding with the United States, which acts as a mediator between Lebanon and Israel.

The president stressed that in the absence of a positive atmosphere, there would not be continuity on the course of the negotiations.

According to local reports, there is a disputed oil and gas rich area of some 860 square kilometers between the two nations, according to maps deposited by them to the United Nations.

During the talks in the past, the Lebanese delegation presented a new map advocating an additional 1,430 kilometers, which led that the negotiations from Israel were suspended in 2021.
