Joao-Lourenco-Voto-300x200
Luanda, Aug 24 (Prensa Latina) Several voters in Angola went to the polls since early Wednesday to elect the president and vice president of the Republic and the lawmakers to the National Assembly.

The voting assemblies opened at 07:00 hours, local time, and will close at 16:00 hours, local time, indicated the National Electoral Commission (CNE), which programmed several reports to inform on the behavior of the votes in the country and abroad.

In statements to the national and foreign press, CNE president Manuel Pereira da Silva explained that the vote began on time, in a peaceful and calm environment.

The electoral roll includes 14,399,391 Angolan voters, among them about 22,500 residents abroad, given the inclusion for the first time of the diaspora in an exercise of this nature as a result of the constitutional revision and modifications to the organic law of the general elections in 2021.

The ruling People’s Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), the National Union for the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA) party, the Social Renewal Party (PRS), the National Front for the Liberation of Angola (FNLA) and the National Patriotic Alliance (APN) are involved in this elections.

The Humanist Party of Angola (PHA), the Nationalist Party for Justice in Angola (P-NJANGO) and the Broad Convergence for the Salvation of Angola-Electoral Coalition (CASA-CE) completed the list.

A total of 13,238 polling stations and 26,488 polling centers are operating this Wednesday, that implied to recruit and train 106,870 members, adding the national territory and the polling stations set up at the Angolan embassies in 25 cities of 12 countries, the CNE reported.

At around 08:00 hours, local time, President João Lourenço voted at the 105th polling station, located at the Lusíada University, in the district of Ingombota, in the city of Luanda.
