Organized by the Lyceum Mozartiano of Havana, the event will run until November 12. It features Venezuelan oboist Sergio Sanchez as a guest, highlighting the exchange between Cuban and international musicians that the festival fosters.
The Venezuelan musician’s first performance will take place at the Lyceum of Havana Orchestra—conducted by Cuban maestro Daiana Garcia—at the Oratorio San Felipe Neri, the event’s primary venue.
The program includes the exhibition *Mozart in Havana* by Cuban visual artist Adrian Socorro, also held at the Oratorio San Felipe. Additionally, there will be masterclasses and concerts featuring Cuban flutist Niurka Gonzalez and pianist Patricio Malcolm, as well as the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, among others.
A significant highlight will be the Cuban premiere of the *Symphony in D* by Cuban composer Antonio Raffelin. The work has been edited and reconstructed by pianist and researcher Jose Raul Lopez—a recovery effort that stands as one of this year’s key contributions to the nation’s musical heritage.
Composed in 1845, the *Symphony in D* serves as a testament to 19th-century Cuban symphonic composition and its connections to international musical circuits.
The score is set to be published in 2027 as part of a project supported by the Latin GRAMMY Cultural Foundation.
