Nicaraguans call for the end of U.S. blockade against Cuba

Managua, Oct 12 (Prensa Latina) The "Antonio Maceo" Association of Cubans Residing in Nicaragua on Wednesday called for the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for over 60 years.

In a letter sent to U.S. ambassador Kevin Sullivan, the Cubans also called for the withdrawal of Cuba from the list of states sponsor terrorism.

“The unfounded decision to include Cuba on the list of states sponsor terrorism seriously affects the Cuban people,” the document stated, while stressing that Cuba, like the United States, is facing up the effects of Category 4 Hurricane Ian.

“Destruction caused by hurricane in Cuba has been as intense as in Florida. Cuba needs resources and financing assistance for a speedy recovery. Nowadays, the hostile blockade makes it impossible and also limits the arrival of these resources,” the letter read.
