Syrian focused in encouraging tourism

Damascus, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The Tourism Investment Forum 2022 began today in Damascus, with the participation of government officials and companies, as well as businessmen and investors from several countries.

The opening of the event, organized by the Syrian Ministry of Tourism and the Investment Board, included two photographic exhibitions and video presentations of the 25 projects that will be carried out in several provinces.

The government is committed to boosting investments in order to achieve sustainability in tourism and enhance the role of this sector in development, in addition to ensuring job opportunities, said Prime Minister Hussein Arnous.

He explained that the forum aims to achieve optimal economic viability for investment in assets and buildings belonging to public institutions, trade unions and popular organizations, to restore their activity interrupted due to terrorism.

Recently, local authorities opened the first 5-Star hotel in Damascus since the onset of the terrorist war the country has been overcoming.

In May 2021, Syria passed a new law that encourages the implementation of projects that contribute to the reconstruction of the country and achieving economic development.

The legislation encourages and protects foreign and local capital, and provides an enabling environment for establishing investments and projects, in addition to offering customs and tax privileges.
