Cuba expresses condolences to South Korea after stampede

Havana, Oct 31 (Prensa Latina) The Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX) on Monday expressed condolences to South Korea for the victims of a stampede that resulted in 146 dead and 150 injured, during a celebration in the city of Seoul.

We extend heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of the Republic of Korea in light of the unfortunate loss of human lives and injuries during a tragic incident in the Itaewon neighborhood, downtown Seoul, and we extend them to family and friends, the Cuban Foreign Ministry wrote on Twitter.

The massive disaster happened on October 29, when a stampede involved thousands of people gathered on the narrow streets during Halloween festivities.

After the events, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol declared a period of national mourning, saying in a television message that it was “a tragedy and a disaster that should not have happened.”
