Venezuela rejected a bill from the US Congress

Caracas, Dec 17 (Prensa Latina) The Government of Venezuela forcefully rejected today the approval by the United States Congress of a bill, considered a violation of economic freedoms and a serious offense to the people.

A statement from the People’s Power Ministry for Foreign Relations described the initiative as disastrous, both in its name and its content, and considered it an instrument contrary to international law and conceived from the extremist sectors of US politics.

The Foreign Ministry denounced that the project violates the integrity of the sovereign people of Venezuela, as well as North American companies, by placing them at risk of being penalized in an arbitrary, unfair and illegal manner, when exercising their right to free trade through contracts with the Bolivarian Executive.

This abusive measure, he indicated, demonstrates once again the cruelty of ultra-conservative and coup sectors in US politics that repeat their attempt to overthrow the legitimate government and blow up any possible route to dialogue and constructive relations between the two countries.

The text indicated that this bill intends to make unilateral coercive measures irreversible and confirms that these same sectors have no interest in seeing a development process and an improvement in the quality of life of our population in Venezuela.

And much less, he stressed, that free and fair elections are guaranteed, by promoting more obstacles and hostile measures against the South American country.

He stated that the name of said instrument also offends the Venezuelan people, its history and its Liberator, whose republican values and commitment to the principles of freedom and peace, are far above those of a handful of legislators ignorant of their glory.

The Foreign Ministry estimated these congressmen will only be remembered by history due to their complicity with the aggression against free and sovereign countries.

Faced with the Monroist threat and his war-building heirs, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will continue to cultivate and defend the legacy of the Liberator Simón Bolívar, carving out its own path of political and social stability, economic recovery and peace diplomacy, for a world free of hegemonism, colonialism and imperialism, concluded the text.
