El Salvador: MINED to outlay on school infrastructure

San Salvador, Jan 5 (Prensa Latina) Salvadorean Education Minister Mauricio Pineda on Thursday announced his country´s government will outlay 60% of the US million available on improving school infrastructure.

The Education Ministry (MINED) is one of the ministries to benefit from the fiscal Budget passed by Parliament in December, 2022, with more than US$1.5 billion.

US$ 165 million will be used to fulfill one of the initiatives launched by President Nayib Bukele to revamp over 5,000 schools, 80 of which are almost ready to be opened.

Pineda explained that major strategic axes for this year are school infrastructure and early childhood, where training processes already benefited 20,000 professors.

Among other challenges are to improve Internet service connection with schools and teachers to be better trained.
