Hungarian PM calls for lifting sanctions on Russia

Budapest, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Today, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban dismissed that" the leaders of the European Union lift sanctions against Russia, but only France and Germany can do it".

Speaking to Kossuth Radio station, Orban stated that he could only reduce the damage of sanctions to his own country, referring to the collateral damage of the restrictions imposed by the West on the Russian Federation.

The prime minister pointed out that only the Germans or the French could change the EU’s position on sanctions, while Hungary’s political resources were not enough to reach that goal.

In his opinion, some EU leaders should finally say: We have ruined everything; it is now time to stop because problems caused by the sanctions will only worsen.

If this were to happen, energy prices would fall immediately and, with them, inflation would be reduced by half, Orban emphasized.
