Marianne Williamson confirms to run in US presidential race

Washington, Feb 25 (Prensa Latina) Activist Marianne Williamson is today the only Democrat to confirm she will compete for her party's nomination in the 2024 presidential elections in the United States.

In a recent interview, the North American author emphasized “I would not run for president if I did not believe that I could contribute to harnessing the collective sensibility that I believe is our best hope at this time.”

Such a decision would put her in a primary against President Joe Biden, who has yet to announce his plans on whether to seek re-election.

Williamson gained notoriety in recent general elections, especially during the early debates, where some of her spiritual comments gained a following online.

However, her campaign lasted a year and withdrew in January 2020, The Hill newspaper said.

The day before, the first lady of the United States, Jill Biden, hinted that the president will campaign for another season in the White House.

“He says he has not finished what he has started. And that’s what matters. How many times does he have to say it for you to believe it?” she stressed in an interview in Kenya.

For the newspaper, these statements represent one of the strongest nods towards a 2024 candidacy in the ruler’s inner circle.

As a report from the CNN channel indicates, the fact that Biden is the first octogenarian in the Oval Office is something that few in his environment are interested in highlighting, because in the event he prevailed in the 2024 general elections, he would be 82 years old. during his inauguration and 86 at the end of a second period.

In turn, the president starred in episodes where he shook hands in the air, fell, looked for a congresswoman who had been dead for a month during an act, was lost on stage without knowing exactly what to do, forgot names, which reinforces concerns about his health and mental capacity.

However, analysts said Americans want a “slow and steady” leader who gets things done and offers a reassuring presence, which is why they see him as the “almost inevitable” contender for the Democrats.

While the head of state keeps in suspense whether he will run for re-election, he is the center of investigations for the Justice Department after several batches of files with classification marks from his time as vice president in the Barack Obama administration (2009-2017) appeared.
