Cuba receives support from Germany in inclusive football

Camagüey, Cuba, Mar 21 (Prensa Latina) Relations between Germany and Cuba are growing today, especially those that look at childhood and sports, and have them as a priority for the well-being of humanity.

Proof of the above is German Ambassador Heidrun Tempel’s visit heading a delegation that brought a donation of sports materials for the Futbol Inclusivo Somos Mas (We Are More Inclusive Football) special program, and which benefits children with intellectual disabilities.

The Multipurpose Hall in Cuba’s third most populated city was chosen to hold the event, and to deliver the donation from the presidency of the Cologne Football Club (FC Köln), of the German first division (Bundesliga).

Precisely, its president, Werner Wolf, told the local Adelante Digital weekly that “we are happy that more people in Germany join this kind of action with children, it is a small contribution to a social activity that we value.”

Football, beyond a sport, is in its social practice itself, one of the ways that human beings have to show healthy feelings, and forge values, especially in the new generations.

And this kind of donation to vulnerable people and people with disabilities reaffirms it with more than enough reasons as in the most universal of sports.

The non-governmental organization Camaquito promotes this kind of action in the region.

In the provincial capital, Alberto Martinez, head of the Inclusive Football program in Camagüey, told Adelante Digital that “five schools from the main municipality participate, we focus on sports, but other socio-cultural activities are also held.”
