Grenadian PM calls for unity to address Caribbean water issues

Grenadian PM calls for unity to address Caribbean water issues

St. George, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) Grenadian Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell on Wednesday called on all stakeholders to work together to address the water challenges facing the Caribbean region on the occasion of World Water Day.

As a region, the reliability of water supplies is becoming an increasing issue due to the effects of climate change and extreme events, Mitchell said.

“Sanitation is also an area of concern, as much of our wastewater goes untreated into the environment,” the head of Government stated.

Upon delivering the keynote address virtually at the opening ceremony of the Caribbean Scientific Symposium on Water, Mitchell said that the Caribbean is unlikely to meet the global target unless progress significantly accelerates.
