In a message posted on Twitter, Sanchez stressed that Spain counts on Paraguay to strengthen relations with Latin America and the European Union.

“Let’s continue working on further strengthening the excellent relations between our countries (…) Spain counts on Paraguay to deepen relations between Latin America and the Caribbean with the European Union,” Sanchez tweeted.

After Peña´s electoral victory, the Colorado Party remained leading Paraguay’s administration.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry, on the other hand, also congratulated Peña and sent its best wishes for his new political stage.
