Luanda, May 16 (Prensa Latina) Angola on Tuesday advocated in a ministerial forum to strengthen public policies aimed at eradicating forced child labor within the scope of the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP).

The meeting of CPLP Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs was inaugurated by the host minister, Teresa Rodrigues in the western Benguela province, reported Jornal de Angola local newspaper.

The meeting, scheduled to last until coming Thursday, will not only review the CPLP action plan against child labor, but will also analyze the initiative to create an economic council of the organization and the opening here of an office of the International Labor Organization, at the service of the Portuguese-speaking African States.

According to analyses by the Angolan Executive, minors’ labor exploitation recently increased due to the economic and social effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The most remarking uplifts occurred in activities related to agriculture, civil construction, services, mining and toxic materials industries.

Ahead of the aforementioned trend, the government established here in 2021 a cross- section commission to counteract the problem, in which various institutions participate, including the General Labor Inspectorate and the National Children’s Institute.
