siria-ayuda-jordania-2-768x345
Damascus, May 23 (Prensa Latina) A humanitarian aid convoy sent by Jordanian charity organizations arrived in Syria through the Nassib border crossing, on the common border, on Tuesday.

The column is made up of 14 trucks laden with medical supplies, food and relief materials donated by the Hashemite Charitable Association for the victims of the earthquakes that devastated the country last February, the director of the crossing, Shadi Abazid, said.

He explained that the aid was delivered to the volunteers of the Syrian Red Crescent, who will distribute it to the homeless families.

The Syrian Development Fund recently received 10 of a total of 60 caravans of donation from Jordan’s “Muslims Around the World” association, whose supplies will be available to families in the same situation.

According to official data, the Hashemite Kingdom has sent, since the first days of the disaster, 186 trucks laden with hundreds of tons of aid, an integrated dialysis unit and ten ambulances, in addition to three cargo planes that arrived at the airports of Aleppo and Damascus.

Syrian Prime Minister Hussein Arnous informed that 1,414 people were killed and 2,367 were injured in last February’s earthquakes, while the number of affected families rose to 224,762, for a roughly total of one million citizens.
