Denkov, from the Continuous Change Party (PP), has held the pedagogical ministry several times and now has the task of guiding a nation that has held five elections in two years due to the deep polarization between political parties.
To this end, he will alternate as head of government with the current deputy prime minister Mariya Gabriel, leader of the conservative party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), in a rotating mandate every nine months.
Denkov owes his training to educational institutions in his country, Japan, the United States and France; he holds a PhD in Pharmacy and Chemical Sciences and is the author of over 100 scientific publications.
He worked as a senior researcher for the French pharmaceutical company Rhone-Poluenc and the U.S. multinational Unilever and since 2008 he has been a professor at St. Clement’s University of Ohrid in the capital.
In 2021, he was elected member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences and his work as a researcher is recognized with awards from the Ministry of Education and Sofia University.
