Cuba thanks Caribbean countries for their position against US blockad

Havana, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez today thanked the leaders of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) for reiterating their rejection to the US blockade against Cuba.

During a recent meeting of the representatives of that regional integration group, with US Vice President Kamala Harris, Rodriguez appreciated their firm demand for the elimination of unilateral coercive measures against Cuba, he revealed on Twitter.

The meeting between the leaders of the Caribbean integration bloc and the vice-president took place in Nassau, Bahamas, last June 8 with an agenda that evaluated “pressing global concerns, including climate change, energy management, food security and the post-pandemic recovery of Covid-19”, according to media reports.

Caricom, an integration mechanism established on July 4, 1973, is composed of 15 Member States and five Associate Members, mostly islands of the Caribbean Lesser Antilles, and other countries of the region.

The Bahamas currently holds the presidency of the group of Caribbean nations that focuses on institutional matters, trade facilitation, market access for goods and services, transportation and the resolution of regional trade disputes.
