At least four Western countries insist on rearming Ukraine

London, Jun 15 (Prensa Latina) Amid warnings from Russia about its counterproductive nature, the United Kingdom, Denmark, the Netherlands and the United States insisted today on rearming Ukraine with the announcement of sending more anti-aircraft systems there.

The four Western states agreed on a partnership to guarantee war supplies to Kiev, after the visible failure of a counter-offensive launched against Russian forces, said a communiqué of the British Ministry of Defense.

The document was issued simultaneously in the four capitals and foresees the delivery of weapons to Ukraine, where on February 24, 2022 President Vladimir Putin ordered a war operation to protect the uprising population of the Donbas region.

Signatories of the agreement, will allow the delivery to Kiev of hundreds of short- and medium-range missiles and their launching systems to defend key infrastructure points and ensure the success of the counter-offensive.

The day before, the Russian president pointed out that the losses of Ukrainian troops are substantial, above the average for combat operations, with at least 160 tanks and some 350 armored vehicles destroyed in less than five days of fighting.

At another point in their talks, the four countries agreed to establish contracts with Kiev for the production of new ammunition, while Denmark is willing to train Ukrainian pilots in the handling of F-16 fighters and similar aircraft.

The local press recalls that at the time, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky demanded several European powers to deliver warplanes, an option that remains frozen for the time being.

The United Kingdom leads in Europe the delivery of war material, after being the first to propose the delivery to Ukraine of its Challenger 2 tanks, although several of them have already been destroyed in videos published this week by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
