Russia to assess peace proposals for Ukraine

St. Petersburg, Russia, Jun 17 (Prensa Latina) Peace initiatives on Ukraine presented by different nations have ideas that could work, the spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said.

“I´d like to reaffirm that we´re grateful to all countries, all States or even to all people who talk about peace, who talk about settlement, who want to be useful in this area,” the Russian diplomat said in an interview given to the press at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to Zakharova, among proposals there are interesting ideas that might work. Many of these initiatives are in line with our approaches, such as the Chinese one. Zakharova stressed that major issue is that these proposals are blocked by Kyiv, which forbade itself any negotiations with Russia. “And all this was blocked by the Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenski because that is Washington´s main concept.

This idea in the United States is “to kill as many Russians as possible”, as it has been stated by prominent politicals: both former President George W. Bush and Senator Lindsey Graham,” Zakharova added.

“Therefore, the issue is not the quality of the initiatives, but the fact that political technologists from Washington do not allow Ukraine to move towards peace. They see the Ukrainian future in a completely different way,” she stressed.

According to Zakharova, the United States is not at all interested in a prosperous, let alone independent Ukraine. They see Ukraine as a tool to influence Russia and the entire region.
