Survey in El Salvador confirms security

San Salvador, Jun 21 (Prensa Latina) In El Salvador, 90% of the population is satisfied with the prevailing security environment and supports the application of the state of exception against gangs, a survey revealed.

The TResearch poll showed that 9 out of 10 people surveyed have this perception. Insecurity is no longer a problem for Salvadorans as 96% say they feel safer than a year ago when the policy against criminal groups was intensified.

The 92,4% of those questioned supported and said they agreed with the implementation of the regime, despite criticism from some groups for alleged human rights violations and the detention of innocent people, something that even some authorities recognize, as evidenced by the more than three thousand people released for not proving a crime.

TResearch’s sample was released a few days before the start of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Sports Games here in San Salvador, where one of the main concerns of the participants was security.

After being decreed and extended for 15 opportunities, the exception regime allowed the arrest of more than 70,000 gang members and the dismantling of most of the gangs operating in the country.
