Lebanon demands Israel’s withdrawal from the village of Ghajar

Beirut, Jul 10 (Prensa Latina) The highest authorities of the Lebanese Government and Parliament demanded the withdrawal of Israel from the northern village of Ghajar, on the southern border of the country.

During a follow-up meeting with the head of the United Nations Interim Force (Unifil), Aroldo Lazaro, Interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati reiterated the demand for Tel Aviv to leave the town, which is considered Lebanese territory.

In this sense, the Cabinet Minister denounced 18 Israeli violations at the border in recent times and informed that on July 20, the discussion of the UN Secretary General’s report and the renewal of Unifil will take place in New York.

On the issue, Speaker Nabih Berri called for the withdrawal of the enemy from the northern part of Ghajar, the Shab’a Farms and the Kfar Shuba Hills.

At a meeting with Commander Lazarus, the parliamentary leader demanded that the international community force Israel to respect Security Council Resolution 1701.

At both meetings, the Unifil high command presented an Israeli complaint about the presence of some tents in the area; and in this regard, Berri emphasized that such tents are on Lebanese territory without violating any resolution.

Also on Monday, Foreign Minister Abdullah Bou Habib discussed with the UN special coordinator here, Joanna Wronecka, the situation in the south and the violations of the Israeli enemy, as well as the political and economic situation in the nation.
