Representatives of state authorities, the business community, non-profit organizations, scientific and educational circles, young people from both countries, profile experts and Ethiopian graduates of Moscow universities participated in the round table, state TV Fana Broadcasting Corporate reported.
The agenda included topics on the current state of agriculture in Africa, the potential use of Russia’s leading breeding solutions and fertilizers, as well as digital platforms to strengthen national economies and build education systems.
The president of the African Chamber of Energy, NJ Ayuk, highlighted in a video address, the need to intensify Russian-African cooperation in the gas sector and related areas, and highlighted the potential of green technologies to forge deeper collaboration between both parties.
“Africa has the largest suitable market for Russian green technology companies, calling on the companies they invest in to explore opportunities on the continent,” Ayuk stressed.
The head of the Department of African International Cooperation for the African Countries Division of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Ilya Nesterov, addressed the key problems facing the Russian and African business communities such as lack of information, challenges represented by customs liberalization, and tax and visa regime.
The Chairman of the Coordinating Committee for Economic Cooperation with African Countries, Igor Morozov, stated that Africa is a key partner of Russia in the new multipolar world. He specified they have been closely monitoring the speed with which African nations achieve economic sovereignty and digital transformation. More than 700 million out of 1.3 billion Africans are young and this presents a great opportunity, he stressed.
The Russian ambassador to Ethiopia, Evgeny Terekhin, ratified Russia’s commitment to deepen its cooperation with African nations in the field of security, medicine, biodiversity, geology and mineral processing, energy, construction, transportation, ecology, agriculture and water resources, among others. “The issue of the inclusion of the African Union in the G20 will be solved in the near future with our active assistance. This will allow the continent to fully participate in the formation of the international agenda and in the mechanisms of global governance”, he stated.
