China: If water is safe, Japan would not have to dump it into the sea

Beijing, Jul 20 (Prensa Latina) China reiterated Thursday its opposition to Japan's plan to dump radioactive water into the sea and urged it to listen to the international community's disagreement on the issue.

“If the Fukushima nuclear-contaminated water is truly safe, Japan would not have to dump it into the sea, and certainly should not if it is not,” Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Mao Ning stressed.

According to the spokeswoman, the Japanese Government’s decision does not take into account at all the public concerns, particularly those of the fishing and farming communities.

The Japanese executive has launched a global public relations campaign, set up a special fund to silence the public, and used the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) review report as if it were a done deal, she stressed.
