Israeli Prime Minister has cardiac pacemaker implanted

Tel Aviv, Jul 23 (Prensa Latina) Benjamin Netanyahu, Israeli Prime Minister, underwent surgery to implant a pacemaker, a week after his medical admission after suffering from dehydration, a statement from his office reported today.

The Sheba Medical Center, located in the central city of Tel Hashomer, explained that the procedure, carried out last night, was completed successfully, although it clarified that the 73-year-old patient will remain under observation. The operation coincides with the discussion in the Knesset (Parliament) of a key vote this Sunday on a controversial judicial reform, which is being promoted by the ultra-right ruling alliance and which has provoked a wave of national protests since the beginning of the year.

A week ago Netanyahu was urgently admitted to the same hospital after losing consciousness at his home, which caused him to fall and hit his head.

According to reports, he also suffered chest pains, although the evaluation pointed to dehydration. In October 2022, the prime minister was taken to the emergency room of Shaare Zedek Medical Center after fainting in a synagogue located in Jerusalem.
