Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez and ministerial delegations from 17 countries, including Cuba, are attending the event until August 5.
Cuba’s delegation is headed by Governor Alexandre Quintero, from the central province of Cienfuegos, and includes Deputy Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister Deborah Rivas; Idalberto Pérez, general director of Industrial Management at the Ministry of Industry; Edel Gómez, from the electronics industry; among other officials.
At the opening session, Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar expressed appreciation for the large attendance at the meeting, which included sectors of interest for India in Latin America and the Caribbean.
He mentioned mining, renewable energy, healthcare services, infrastructure, computerization and innovation, and agriculture in the context of food security as some of those significant areas.
Jaishankar pointed out that the conclave shows the potential and strength of economic relations between the two regions and described it an opportunity to conclude business deals and contracts in these fields.
