After every Monday’s meeting to monitor the National Citizen Security Plan at the National Police Palace, Peña pointed out that the average murder rate in the provinces of Santiago, Puerto Plata, La Vega, Duarte and Espaillat decreased 2.2 percent, from 11.7 to 9.5 percent.
She stated that the new ways of confronting insecurity and the investigation methods used in the organizations involved in this mission are beginning to bear fruit.
Peña described the results during the first seven weeks of work and monitoring meetings as “extraordinary” and pointed out that it is now possible to speak of a reduction in thefts and a positive impact on the prosecution of micro-trafficking.
The official praised the coordinated work of the Public Ministry, the Armed Forces, the National Police and the National Directorate for Drug Control to curb crime and guarantee citizen’s security.
The ministers of the Presidency, Defense, Interior, the Director General of the National Police, the Commander General of the Army, and the head of the National Directorate for Drug Control, among others, participated in Monday’s meeting.
