Colombian authorities condemn assassination of well-known musician

Bogota, Aug 21 (Prensa Latina) Authorities, diplomats, artists and numerous voices in Colombia condemn today the murder of musician Lisandro Vallecilla, after participating in the Petronio Alvarez Pacific Music Festival.

‘We reject and condemn the murder of Lisandro Vallecilla, musician of the group Canalón de Timbiquí yesterday in Cali.

Great friend, artist and exponent of the music of the Pacific’, said the vice president of the country, Francia MArquez.

The vice president expressed her solidarity with the family, friends, with the Canalón group, with the teacher Nidia Góngora and with the entire community of the Timbiquireño people who are suffering this great loss.

‘We cannot allow this violence and absurd intolerance snatch more lives from us’, stressed Francia Márquez through her profile on the social network X, formerly Twitter.

For his part, the former presidential candidate for the Historical Pact and Colombian ambassador to Argentina, Camilo Romero, remarked that this crime is an attack on the people of the Pacific who have made art a voice of protest and resistance to violence.

Intolerance and hatred cannot continue to take away Colombia’s children,’ Romero stressed.

Likewise, the Minister of Education Aurora Vergara-Figueroa pointed out that Lisandro, 31 years old, left the name of the Pacific high on an international level and his contribution and legacy will remain as the country’s cultural heritage.

In a broad note, the Ministry of Culture expressed its condemnation of the murder of the young artist and social leader.
