The head of the Registry of Citizens of the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE), Ramiro Muñoz, complied just on Monday with the resolution of the seventh criminal judge, Fredy Orellana, who called for the cancellation of that political force, for alleged false signatures in its constitution in 2018.

Without commenting on the above, that day, the plenary of magistrates of the governing body of the voting process made official, the results of the second electoral round with Bernardo Arévalo and Karin Herrera as the elected presidential candidates.

Semilla’s legal team then filed a nullity appeal against the resolution of the Registrar of Citizens, with negative consequences for its newly elected deputies.

In this sense, Arevalo affirmed that nothing could prevent the presidential assumption on January 14, 2024 and assured that the group “will not give up in its fight for the respect of the results of the elections, the rule of law and the democratic regime in the country”.

The board of directors of the Legislative joined the scheme and declared the five Semilla parliamentarians independent, discarding the appeal for nullity firstly presented against the resolution of the Attorney General’s Office.

Local and international entities showed concern for these facts, reiterated the illegality of the maneuvers promoted by the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP) and warned of a possible technical blow to democracy.
