Cuba deputy PM to attend intergovernmental meeting in China

Beijing, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Deputy Prime Minister Ricardo Cabrisas kicked off a visit to China on Monday, during which he will co-chair the 30th Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Commercial and Financial Relations.

Cuban Ambassador Alberto Blanco published wrote on his X account, formerly Twitter, that Cabrisas will have a busy agenda with government institutions and the business sector.

According to a press release from the Cuban Foreign Ministry, the Commission will strengthen ties between the two countries, review and plan the main issues of mutual interest, including those related to the scientific-technical sector and bilateral cooperation.

In addition, the meeting seeks to make progress in the implementation of the consensus reached during Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel’s State visit to China in November 2022.

On Tuesday, as part of his agenda, Cabrisas will visit the facilities of the Biotech Pharmaceutical Limited (PBL) joint venture, which has reported major results in terms of biotechnological cooperation.

In fact, one of its main achievements is the recent launching of Nimotuzumab, a monoclonal antibody to treat pancreatic cancer.

Cabrisas will also meet with members of the diplomatic mission in Beijing.

Cuba and China recently celebrated 63 years of diplomatic relations, but the historic ties date back to the 19th century, when the first Chinese citizens arrived in Cuba.

In this regard, Ambassador Alberto Blanco stressed that the friendship between the two peoples does not depend on temporary circumstances, but is due to deep historic ties.
