Palestinean government intensifies contacts to stop aggression

Ramallah, Oct 16 (Prensa Latina) The Palestinian government continued today an intense agenda of contacts with authorities of different countries to stop the Israeli bombings against the Gaza Strip, which in 10 days caused the death of 2,750 people.

The Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, spoke by telephone with the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, with whom he discussed the new wave of violence, which began on October 7.

Abbas demanded an end to Israeli attacks and the creation of safe corridors to allow the entry of food and medicine to the enclave, which is suffering a total blockade by the neighboring nation.

He also rejected orders for the displacement of the territory’s population and condemned “the killing of civilians on both sides” and stressed “the importance of freeing prisoners detained on both sides”, according to the official Wafa news agency.

He affirmed that regional peace and security will only be possible if international resolutions on Palestine are implemented, including the creation of a sovereign state.

Abbas also spoke with former Italian Prime Minister and former head of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, with whom he exchanged views on the new conflict.
