“The RusMarket project is intended for the long term and includes the opening of the first store of Russian products on the island, as most of the Cuban population remembers these goods, so we will create a joint venture that will start operating before the end of 2023,” the executive said.

The Russian company is currently participating at the Havana International Fair, Fihav-2023, where it is exhibiting products.

Belchikov added that Cuban-Russian relations are experiencing a boom, which includes not only intergovernmental contacts, but also the active participation of the business sector, which shows great interest in cooperation between the countries.

He also said that the range of products will grow and will not be limited only to food: at the initial stage it is about meat, dairy and canned products, confectionery and beverages.

The businessman’s plans include supplying Cuba with spare parts for automobiles, machinery, construction equipment and materials, household appliances, textiles and clothing.

“We want to introduce Russian products to the Cuban market and in the same way serve as a gateway to Russia for Cuban products; our company aims to become a link between the two countries,” Belchikov said.
