Novelties at the kickoff of the 44th Latin American Film Festival

Havana, Dec 6 (Prensa Latina) In its bid for reinvention and in the midst of the kick-off of the 44th International Festival of New Latin American Cinema, Cuba's cinematographic field reveals today novelties in this festive December.

Already shining in the lobby of the headquarters of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry are a group of old movie cameras, considered treasures, which keep part of the national history in the seventh art, according to Cubacine.

It specified that soon the institutional channels together with the Icaic Digital Laboratory will reveal the details of these relics. On the other hand, in Havana’s Historic Center, the space ‘Among Filmmakers’, the second Caravan of Cinema made by women in Havana, is taking place until Thursday at the small and cozy Alfredo Guevara Hall.

This film cycle returns to Old Havana after several years of absence, specifically since 2014, by the hand of the Office of the Historian of the City, Kultura Communication and Development KCD Ongd and the production company Klaketa Arab, in the framework of a cooperation project for development funded by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, Spain, according to the source.

It was also recently announced that the documentary ¨Every Day is March 8¨ was selected to participate in the section ¨In Perspective: Short Films¨ of this 44th edition of the festival to be held in Havana from December 8 to 17, with 199 films in competition from 19 Latin American nations.

The documentary program is non-competitive, but the films are eligible for the Collateral Awards given at the event. As excellent news, Icaic highlighted in its social networks that the Havana museum Quisicuaba confirmed that it will make a solid donation to buy a second Black Magic 4K scanner in the foreign market for the Film Archive and the institutional Digital Laboratory, as part of an important agreement that supports the rescue of Cuba’s cinematographic heritage.

The organizers of the event told the press there will be QR codes in each cinema in the capital to download the application and purchase the passports.

Another great news is that, like a film train, the event is adding stops and screens with the incorporation of Holguín, Villa Clara, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus, Camagüey, Matanzas, Isla de la Juventud and other territories to the activities, to live this December a great Cuban and Latin American celebration.
