I call on all peace-loving countries demanding an end to Israeli aggression to join those who support in that organization a proposal to end the conflict, the Arab League chief said in a press release.

Aboul Gheit said that the Israeli attack on the coastal enclave is a threat to the Middle East.

He affirmed that the diplomatic pressure must be intensified vigorously and the aggression must be stopped in all directions in this critical situation.

The Security Council is meeting this Friday after UN Secretary-General António Guterres decided to invoke Article 99 of the UN Charter for the first time in his tenure.
