PISA is a tool created by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) with the objective of measuring the ability of 15-year-olds to face specific problems through their knowledge in mathematics, reading and science.
The 2022 data was recently published. The ECLAC, together with the OECD and the UNESCO Regional Office, will discuss the challenges and opportunities raised from the program’s conclusions.
A total of 81 countries participated in the latest study; 14 of them are from the region: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
One of the main objectives of the meeting is how to leverage learning data to promote a transformation in teaching models, leading to an inclusive and quality education system.
The event will be inaugurated by the executive secretary of ECLAC, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs with the participation of Officials from the OECD and the Regional Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
After the opening of the meeting, the PISA results in our region will be presented, and there will be a debate about the implications of these data. Specialists from Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Panama and a representative of the World Bank are expected to intervene in the gathering.
