The training of professionals for the advancement of society and the province contributes to comprehensive work in search of the sustainability of communities and other territories.
The University trains more than 7,000 professionals in five faculties equipped with modern technology and a specialized classroom for Renewable Energy Sources, the first in Cuba, and a laboratory for these purposes as part of its actions to encourage the use of the so-called clean energies.
This week, some 1,000 young people, one of the largest promotions since September 22, 1983, when the first university in Sancti Spiritus was created, received their degrees at the Major General Serafín Sánchez Valdivia Revolution Square.
At the ceremony, 85 students received the Gold Title for their teaching excellence and seven had the Scientific Merit Award. In addition, the most relevant students in the daytime, by meeting and by short cycle courses were acknowledged.
Prensa Latina learned that graduates join the working life in support of the country’s strategies to boost the implementation of comprehensive development projects and counter the limitations caused by the unjust blockade imposed by the United States.
Agricultural projects receive some 150 graduates of agricultural sciences, while other branches benefit from specialists in technical, economic, social, legal, pedagogical sciences, and physical culture and sports.
This is an injection of young blood into production and services in the territory, said UNISS Rector Edelvy Bravo, who reiterated that the university will continue being a pillar in the achievements of professionals and in the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals in the province.
She quoted the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who said, “Cuba would necessarily be a society of knowledge, of culture, of the most extraordinary human development that can be conceived, development of culture, art, science with a fullness of freedom that no one can cut off.”
