Murders of six people in Paraguay attributed to drug traffickers

Asunción, Jan 13 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan authorities and media attributed the murders on Thursday of six people in the northeastern department of Amambay, bordering Brazil, to drug traffickers, the newspaper ABC Color reported.

The homicides seems to be “an execution” of drug smugglers, Minister of the Interior Enrique Riera said, while the newspaper itself affirmed that “the six individuals were executed with gunshots to the head, which bears “the imprint of organized crime.”

The official explained to radio 1020 AM that the victims of the criminal action in a farm in Colonia Piky, whose perpetrators, eight criminals dressed in camouflaged uniforms, pretended to be agents of the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (SENAD), “were killed on the floor, face down and shirtless”.

“The hypothesis is still premature, but there is a speculation of a confrontation for reasons of drug trafficking”.

The Minister of the Interior recalled that there are many marijuana plantations in the area of Amambay, and assured that the Police are investigating the facts and support Prosecutor Celso Morales, who was appointed for the case, and the searches of the SENAD, whose agents found where van with which the perpetrators escaped.
