Survey advances Bukele’s broad victory in El Salvador

presidente-Nayib-Bukele-1
San Salvador, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) The presidential candidate of the Nuevas Ideas (NI) party, Nayib Bukele, will obtain an overwhelming victory in the February 4 elections in El Salvador, a survey reported today.

Bukele with 70.9 percent voting intention and Nuevas Ideas with 57 deputies was a result of the elections predicted by the Center for Citizen Studies of the Francisco Gavidia University (UFG).

The investigation specified that the candidate Manuel Flores, of the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front (FMLN), would march at a distance with 2.9 percent, although the red awning estimates that his support will reach double digits.

Then Joel Sánchez (Nationalist Republican Alliance, Arena) would follow, with 2.7 percent, and other candidates from six parties in dispute, according to the sampling “VI Study of social and political humor, electoral perspective 2024.”

The study showed that opponents of the current president (on leave) account for only 7.9 percent of the preferences. In the projection of the vote for municipal councils, NI also predominates with 54.7 percent followed by Arena, with 5.8 percent, Gana, with 3.3 percent, the PDC, with three percent and the FMLN, with 2.8 percent, with a 18.3 percent who would abstain.

According to this projection, and according to the official Diario El Salvador, NI will maintain the majority in the new Legislative Assembly and the FMLN will disappear as a political group.

Óscar Picardo, social researcher at the house of higher education, revealed that the cyan party would win 57 of the 60 seats that parliament will have, starting in the 2024-2027 period.

Only the Arena party and the Christian Democrat would obtain two and one deputy respectively, although evaluations of the FMLN candidate, Manuel Flores, predict that his party will increase its current membership in Parliament.

The rest of the political institutes participating in the electoral contest, to be held next February 4, would not obtain any deputies, so they would be condemned to disappear.

Picardo said that the survey was carried out from the 3rd to the 8th of this month at the national level and has a confidence rate of 95 percent.
