Dominica and Canada boost project to face climate change

Roseau, Feb 2 (Prensa Latina) Dominica is currently boosting an approach with a gender perspective for resilience to climate change, supported in collaboration with the Caribbean Biodiversity Fund (CBF) and Global Affairs Canada (GAC).

The initiative is part of the Caribbean Organizations for a Resilient Environment (CORE) project, which aims at improving the resilience of groups vulnerable to climate change in eight Caribbean territories over the next four years, ending in July 2027.

The project, with a value of C$13.4 million, is co-financed by GAC and the CBF, as its emergence responds to the fact that climate change impacts men and women differently, and gender inequality remains a pressing issue in the Caribbean.

CORE will be implemented in Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines as well as Suriname, with a view to soaring the resilience of vulnerable groups in those nations, and its benefits include conservation trust funds, women’s rights, environmental and youth organizations.
