The bill under debate, called Bases and Starting Points for the Freedom of Argentineans, includes highly questioned aspects such as privatization of public companies, the attribution of legislative functions to the Executive and the establishment of economic welfare, security, defense, tariff, energy, health, administrative and social emergencies.
Yesterday, dozens of people, including journalists, were injured with rubber bullets fired by the motorized police during the second consecutive day of demonstrations against the so-called Omnibus Law.
In addition, the police used batons, tear gas and hydrant trucks to remove citizens from the streets and force them onto squares and sidewalks.
For this afternoon, a Cultural Festival and the continuation of the protests are planned.
According to the newspaper Pagina 12, members of La Libertad Avanza (LLA) and sectors in favor of dialogue reached agreements to reduce the number of companies to be privatized, after the elimination of more than one hundred articles of the package of laws.
On the other hand, the news agency Télam stated that the Government has the support of 143 legislators to approve in general the majority opinion (38 from LLA, 34 from the Unión Cívica Radical, 18 from Hacemos Coalicion Federal, 37 from Propuesta Republicana, nine from Innovacion, two from Produccion y Trabajo, two from Buenos Aires Libre, one from Creo, one from Avanza Libertad and one from Unidad Mendocina).
