Costa Rica’s main challenges in education assessed

San José, Feb 10 (Prensa Latina) Costa Rica's education faces several challenges, one of which is the loss of learning, according to analyses at the beginning of the 2024 school year throughout the national territory.

The decrease in the level of learning is one of the challenges underlined, since there is an urgent need for recovery and academic leveling programs, especially in reading and writing, after the impact of the educational blackout.

The State of Education Report noted that a macro-evaluation is needed; that is, it is proposed to establish a comprehensive evaluation system that will allow for significant improvements in various educational aspects.

This point includes national standardized tests and infrastructure evaluations, since the measures established after the educational blackout due to the pandemic were not enough.

An article published in points out that it is also necessary to improve the continuous training of teachers, guaranteeing relevant and accessible training to ensure high quality education.
