A total of 499 individuals will participate in the contest and most of them belong to the two main political parties in the country.
Both the ruling Labor Party and the opposition National People’s Party nominated candidates for the 228 divisions in competition, but there are also four representatives of another political grouping and the rest are independents.
The candidates for councilors and mayors are still campaigning and are exhausting their last resources to present the programs and public good initiatives that they plan to implement if they win the voters’ favor.
