Strikes and demonstrations against Argentinean government measures

Buenos Aires, Feb 26 (Prensa Latina) The Association of State Workers (ATE) and the Confederation of Education of Argentina (Ctera) will hold strikes and demonstrations today in rejection of government measures and for salary improvements.

The members from the Ctera agreed to carry out a strike in all the provinces of the country to demand the holding of a paritaria (negotiation) that will allow the recomposición of payments to face a context marked by a strong adjustment and high inflation.

In declarations to the press, the general secretary of this organization, Sonia Alesso, explained that the strike is also aimed at denouncing the worsening of the situation of teachers due to the decision of the Executive to end the National Fund for Teacher Incentives.

In addition, the participants in the strike will demand an urgent salary increase, the payment of the Compensation Fund (for workers in the sector in provinces with few resources), the funds for school lunchrooms, and the allocations for education which was stopped after the arrival to the Presidency of Javier Milei.
