Paraguayan president fulfills intense agenda in Spain

Madrid, Feb 28 (Prensa Latina) Paraguayan President Santiago Peña is having an intense work agenda in Spain, where he met with the head of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

In his first official visit to Spain since he took office in 2023, Peña was received on Wednesday at the Moncloa Complex, where both parties showed their willingness to strengthen bilateral ties.

Sánchez promised Peña to draw up a new Country Partnership Framework to replace the one currently in force, which expired in 2023, in order to define the new development cooperation program.

He recalled Spain’s cooperation in Paraguay, present for 40 years, and the important role played by Spanish companies in the country’s economic growth.

Spain is the world’s fifth largest investor in Paraguay, to which Sánchez added the desire to increase investments in sustainable and inclusive public projects that represent great opportunities for Spanish companies and benefits for the Paraguayan people.

Sánchez also referred to his administration’s commitment to contribute to the conclusion of the European Union-Mercosur agreement under the most mutually beneficial terms for both parties.
