Argentine President to inaugurate ordinary Congress sessions

Buenos Aires, Mar 1 (Prensa Latina) Argentine President Javier Milei will inaugurate the 142nd period of ordinary sessions of Congress and will deliver his first speech before legislators.

This has generated great expectations, as they will be pronounced in a complex socioeconomic scenario, marked by a strong adjustment plan, a 118 percent devaluation of the Argentine peso, the elimination of subsidies, works, and social programs, and disputes with several governors over cuts to provinces.

Furthermore, the event will take place after the rejection of a package of laws presented by Milei and after several strikes and rallies of organizations and unions, some of which were repressed by the Police.

According to the Télam news agency, Milei is expected to an overview of his first two months in office and reiterate the need for State reform.

Recently, the President declared to the British newspaper Financial Times that as long as Congress has its current composition it will be difficult to approve the planned reforms.
