Bolivia and France sign agreement on hydrogeological studies

La Paz, Mar 2 (Prensa Latina) Yacimientos de Litio Bolivianos (YLB) and France's BRGM (Bureau de Recherches Géologiques et Minières-Office of Geological and Mining Research) are preparing the study of hydrogeological resources in the salt flats of Bolivia.

Both parties signed a memorandum of understanding on this subject in France, according to the Bolivian Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Energy.

“This agreement establishes the evaluation of hydrogeological resources, which will make it possible to determine the capacities for production and environmental care, especially with regard to water resources,” the deputy minister of Exploration and Exploitation of Energy Resources, Raúl Mayta, assured.

Mayta is part of a delegation headed by Franklin Molina, who is visiting European countries to promote investments for the development of lithium industrialization projects.

The memorandum seeks to establish the basis on which the parties will join efforts, work together and plan the project related to the study of hydrogeological resources in the salt flats of Bolivia, the document states.

It also promotes cooperation through the exchange of practices and experiences, technical information and other aspects inherent to the agreement, such as visits, training and studies related to hydrogeological resources in the salt flats of the Bolivian departments of Potosí and Oruro.
