On X, the Cuban foreign minister informed that during the exchange held with Arreaza both reviewed prospects for bilateral cooperation with the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of America-People’s Trade Treaty. Past February, Arreaza was appointed to this high responsibility at the head of the ALBA-TCP group of countries, today comprising Cuba, Venezuela, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Grenada, Dominica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Antigua and Barbuda, St. Lucia and St. Kitts and Nevis.

Arreaza replaced Félix Plasencia, who has been serving as Executive Secretary since December 2022, when he replaced Bolivian Sacha Llorenti, appointed back in December 2020.

The new ALBA-TCP Executive Secretary will promote the 2030 Strategic Agenda aimed at strengthening the Alliance, according to an official statement.

During his mandate, Arreaza will be responsible for coordinating actions to reinvigorate the region’s cooperation architecture by promoting trade exchange and the development of the logistics chain.
