Image of president of Ecuador drops 11 points, polls show (+Photo)

Quito, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) The image of the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, fell 11 points, according to statistics from the Perfiles de Opinión pollster.

The study was carried out between the 2nd and 4th of this month in the cities of Quito and Guayaquil and showed that the president’s approval is at 74.05 percent.

The results of the survey, applied to 613 people, among men and women aged 18 to 65, determined that 65.64 percent of respondents consider Noboa’s management as good, while 8.41 percent maintain that his management is very good.

On the other hand, 22.32 percent of respondents answered that the president’s image is bad, and 3.63 percent described it as very bad.

In January of this year, Noboa’s approval rating was at 85.47 percent, according to Perfiles de Opinión, revealing a drop of 11.42 points.

This Monday, Noboa asked citizens to support his proposal for a Popular Consultation, which will take place on April 21st.

The president stressed that the issues put to a vote in the Consultation are important to maintain security, considering it a mechanism that will seek to reform current laws on the control of weapons and ammunition by the Armed Forces, as well as the classification of crimes for possession of weapons, and increased penalties for terrorism or organized crime.

Noboa’s proposal to hold a referendum has been described as erratic and unnecessary, since it covers issues that can be discussed in the National Assembly without having to carry out the said process, which would cost around 60 million dollars.
